Here are a few comments from people we have been able to help.
Joy from Post falls said, "I don't know what I would do without ElderHelp and my caregiver Megan. They're always there when I need them. ElderHelp has helped me with removing a bed, mowing my lawn, and trimming my bushes among many other things."When I can't find their number I panic." As long as ElderHelp is here, Joy knows there's always someone she can count on.
ElderHelp installed a handy grab bar for Joyce. She loves ElderHelp. She discovered ElderHelp when she found herself in a difficult place. Where she lives requires her to keep her lawn mowed, and when it had gotten away from her, they threatened her with a fine of $50.00 if she didn't get it mowed. Because Joyce lives on a limited income, she didn't know how she would get this taken care of. Thanks to ElderHelp, she was able to get it mowed not just the one time, but all summer long. From conversation with Joyce from Post Falls, Idaho (September 2012)
"I never realized there were so many things that needed to be done at 80 years old. Things I used to do, but can no longer do. They're always there when I need them. From delivering wood for my fire to building steps as a fire escape. With them in my life, I know I am never alone."
Iris from Hayden Lake, (April 2012)
Last year Sherin lost her husband of over 50 years. She realized how hard things would be without him there but never thought of things like having to move the dryer like when the hose came off. She contacted ElderHelp and we had our repairman out in no time. He also fixed her closet and hauled off a small refrigerator for her. She appreciates ElderHelp and is so glad she found us. She said, "Jerry was such a nice guy. A perfect gentleman."Sherin from Hayden,ID (September 2012)
Since Jerry's surgeries, he hasn't been able to get up on the roof like he used to. With the minor patch job, Jerry will be able to stay in his home that much longer. He appreciates ElderHelp and all we do. Post Falls, ID (September 2012)
Sheila from Harrison said, "If it wasn't for Elderhelp I could have broken my leg. Jerry came by and fixed my floor by my shower. He definitely knows what he is doing. When I was out of wood and within a day, a pleasant young man brought enough wood to keep me warm til spring. Kay went the extra mile in getting my wood delivered since I live quite a long way from town. Thanks for a job well done. You are my 'Light in the Forest'. I had a lovely dry load of wood delivered on Saturday morning. My faith in humanity is restored. (Good on You) Bless you."
Polly from CDA was so shocked to see how our volunteer from ElderHelp was so helpful and caring. He even fixed some things that she didn't think we would fix. He extended her steps in her garage and added a handrail. She had fallen several times and now the steps are safe and easier for her to get in and out of her home. He installed a lock on her back door, she said, "I never even knew anything like ElderHelp existed. She has been so pleased with ElderHelp that she said she would do about anything for us. She's one of our biggest fans. (September 2012)
Esther from Athol said, "Just knowing someone cares about what happens to me makes a big difference in my life. ElderHelp's volunteers are very nonjudgmental and helpful." |
